Select Registry

The challenge
Before approaching us, our client had been established in the USA for 35 years, but had never been marketed outside North America or worked with the wider travel industry.
Many of Select Registry’s properties were fully booked only during their peak seasons. Most members wished to increase their year-round occupancy to a more consistent level, but were unsure how to do it.
The solution
Our first task was to successfully persuade the portfolio members (over 400 individual hoteliers) that, for the first time, they should consider working with and paying commissions to the travel industry.
We then set about building a network of UK travel agents who would be receptive to the Select Registry product. We also selected as UK general sales agent a tour operator with an intimate knowledge of the type of properties featured in the portfolio.
Finally, we helped our client employ an efficient reservations system to enable independent travellers and travel agents who did not want to use tour operators to make reservations directly via the Select Registry website. We also introduced our client to a trading partner who helped them accept bookings via the various airline reservations systems (GDSs).
The outcome
Eight months later, our client had a regular flow of bookings via our network of UK travel agents and their Godley Read-appointed UK sales agent. Work is ongoing and the network continues to grow. The reservations system on the Select Registry website is shortly to go live, opening a lucrative new revenue stream. Our client has been so pleased with progress to date that Godley Read Consultancy has been invited to participate in the Select Registry annual conference later this year.
